IPOH: The flood situation in Perak has vastly improved with 167 victims left at three evacuation centres in the Manjung and Muallim districts as at 4pm Saturday.

State Malaysian Civil Defence Department director Kolonel Mohd Noor Hassan Ashari Sulaiman said there were 69 people still taking shelter at Sekolah Agama Tebuk Yan with another 91 victims at SK Sungai Batu in the Manjung district.

He added that a family of seven were the only ones left at the Kampung Sungai Muda community hall at Slim River in the Muallim district.

Manjung was hit the hardest with over a thousand victims fleeing their homes to seek shelter at six evacuation centres throughout the district since Wednesday (Nov 29).

Continuous rain also caused serious land erosion between Batu 3 and Batu 10 in Segari, prompting a 17km-long stretch of the road to be closed to traffic.

It was reported that there were over 1,000 flood evacuees in Perak as at 7pm Friday (Dec 1).
